A Word About POTW

This feature of the web site was initially conceived as a project and a lesson. As a project, it enabled me to add regular content to the site. As a lesson, it required me to carry my camera at all times and attune me to my changing environment. In both instances I believe the Photo of the Week was a success, and sharpend my skills as a photographer.

In many ways, I regret letting the project lapse. It was a good way to archive the passage of time, and looking at the images now generates fondness for certain people and the attached memories. But letting go is an important part of moving on. So, while I'd like to believe my photographer's sense is every bit as honed to the changing qualities of light and the 'decisive moment' as it was during thie three years represented here, I confess to not lugging my DSLR with me wherever I go. Fortunately we now have good cameras built in to our cell phones, so it is rare that I miss the inspiring shot. But posting regularly to this page ...?
